Order a Custom Template

It generally takes a minimum of two hours of design time for us to create a custom template for you. All are built with the same superior programming that our pre-built templates are built with, so they will be search engine friendly, quick loading, and easily updatable.

Our minimum charge is Seventy Five Dollars. Some features that you may request *may* increase the cost of the template (for instance, 'rollover' buttons* cost additional). Additional charges are indicated below.

Please note: If you request a custom template, and we draft it, and then you change your mind and decide on a different design, we will charge you the base amount twice: once for the first design and once for the second one.

*rollover buttons are buttons that change color/shape/size when you put the mouse over them
If you would like a custom template created for you, please answer the following questions, to let us know what you are looking for in a template. We will write if we have additional questions.

Base font

While you can use almost any font you like in your logo (as above), or in graphics, the Base Font on your website is the font which is used for all of the text. Many website owners are tempted to use a unique font. The problem is that not every visitor has every font available to them on their computer. So, if you write your entire site in font, but your visitors don't have the font, then they visit your website, the word 'Ashley' will look like this: 'Ashley'. The reason why looks ok here, , is that we have used a PICTURE of the word . But you can't write the entire website in pictures (it will take forever for all the pics to download so visitors can see it).

Just in case you DO have the 'Ashley' then the demonstration above isn't very effective. So, we have included a few other examples to demonstrate in the table below.

Graphic (picture of text) Actual Text
Monotype Corsiva
5th Grade
Amethyst
ANT
PILE

We told you that to tell you this: the four fonts that are generally on EVERYONE'S computers, and thus will look best on our website to the widest population of people are Arial, Times Roman, Courier, and Georgia.

Arial

Times Roman

Courier

Georgia

Because we have a lot of clients who are work at home moms with products geared to children's products, we will also build a website using Comic Sans, because many people (but not all) do have that font.

Please choose the base font you want to use on your website

Your website color choice

In HTML, colors are referred to in Hexadecimal code. For instance, white is #fffff6 and black is #000000 and one of the shades of blue on this page is #6699CC. Most templates use two or three colours. Please go to http://www.visibone.com/colorlab/ to view all available colors and their codes. List below the Hexadecimal value for the three colors you would like included in your template. If you have a graphic artist who created a logo for you, they can probably tell you the exact hexadecimal of the colors they used in your logo.
If you do not know the hexadecimal colors used in your logo, and you want us to extract three colors from your logo, please click here and you can skip the three questions below regarding color Extract three colors from my logo
Primary color to be used in template
Secondary color to be used in template
Tertiary (third) color to be used in template design

Background colour

Would you like the background of your website generally light colored, or generally dark (for instance, a black background). Most people find it easier to read darker colors written on a light background, but there may be some reason why your product will require, or you may prefer, or your logo may match, a dark background. Light

Additional pictures to be included in template

If you have additional pictures (besides your logo) that you would like included in your template design, (see www.positivemoms.com for an example of a template that has a number of pictures), please let us know here and then email them to us. Yes, additional pics are being emailed

No, just include my logo

Menu Style

The color and font of your menu will be determined by your answers above. Please choose here the Style of your menu.
This website contains is a typical button menu; there is a separate button for each menu item
This is an image map menu; there is one graphic, with text written on it. Generally, there is no distinct BUTTON, just text 'mapped' onto a single graphic
This is a text link menu; no graphic is involved. The menu is composed of text with links to the appropriate pages. http://www.officeswithoutwalls.ca

Rollover or not to Roll over?

Here is an example of a rollover button (move your mouse over it to see the effect). Because each button needs to have two versions, and the placement of the text on each button needs to match exactly, there is an additional charge for rollover buttons.

Menu Position

Please keep in mind that the anchor point of any web page is the top left corner. That is the area that is always visible, regardless of your visitor’s monitor size. Menu links are often kept in this general area, so most menus are down the left side, or horzontally running across the screen near the top. However, occassionally, one can put the navigation bar on the right, if one designs the site to account for it.
Which menu position would you like? Left (example 1) (example 2)

Top (example 1) (example 2)

Top and Left

Both right and left

*A possible mistake that most webmasters make is to have a menu on the left-hand side of a website. Since search engines primarily focus on the first 100 words of a website, a left side menu may be a misuse of valuable space. Instead of doing this, you should have your title, description and web copy within the first 100 words of your site. An easy way to do this is to have your menu on the right instead of the standard left-hand side. But, since the left-handed menu is commonplace, you can also choose to put your first 100 words above the left-handed menu, so this text will be the first thing read on your website.

Width of webpage

Just like TVs come in screen size from 9" to 61"+, visitor's computer screen sizes vary widely. You do not want to make a website visitor uncomfortable with viewing your site by making them scroll back and forth from left to right. Ideally, every person can see the entire width of your webpage from left to right without scrolling.

Webpages can be designed to:

Span a percentage of each visitors screen size (say 95% of each person's screen, almost no matter what size screen they have). This sounds like the ideal option, but may not be if you, for instance, want the visitor to be able to print your web page, as 95% of their screen size may be wider than what their printer can print. Also, your graphics may not be suitable for a webpage size that changes from visitor to visitor.

Take up only a certain absolute size, no matter the screen of the visitor. In this case, you often end up designing the webpage for the persons with the 'worst' screen, and the persons with the most modern, best screen see your webpage in the midst of a lot of white space. Since 800 pixels is a common screen size, taking into account the size of the window frame, scroll bar on the right, etc., is it very common for web pages to be designed exactly 750 pixels wide.
I would like for the width of my webpage to be: 100% of everyone's screen

95% of everyone's screen (leaving a small border on the left and right)

Another percentage of everyone's screen

Exactly 750 pixels wide

Another absolute pixel width
The webmaster should use his or her best judgement (recommended)

It is absolutely imperative that visitors be able to print the entire width of each page
